We are currently experiencing increasing censorship of sexuality in (American) search engines and social media. For example, the cult book we published, “Frauenkörper neu gesehen” (Women's Bodies Revisited), is no longer displayed because we, as the publisher, are associated with sex.
Platforms also restrict our reach in the name of protecting minors. As the filters do not differentiate or contextualize, journalistic factual articles are suppressed just as much as educational information or the presentation of sexual anatomy. This censorship is not disclosed, is not visible to users - hence the term shadowbanning - so that self-censorship sets in and “algospeak” or “algopic” is practised, i.e. speech or images are concealed. In concrete terms, this means that we cannot explicitly advertise our sexual politics campaigns and books. ((Sexual education is then left to an omnipresent porn industry, which is easily accessible and has a standardizing effect in its abundance. Ultimately, these filters achieve the exact opposite of protecting minors).
In order to ensure the dissemination of feminist knowledge - which is always the first to be subject to censorship, as history teaches us - we want to reissue this basic book of the feminist health movement and provide it with a cover that bypasses censorship, but makes it obvious after undressing. Moreover, the illustrations of the pleasure complex are still considered unique and can hardly be found in any non-fiction book, as they show the potency center in a coherent and detailed way and explain the clitoris in all its components.
Our Freudenfluss Collective has done a lot of the work itself and is also organizing the distribution. We would like your financial support for the printing costs. We have put together small thank-you gifts and are looking forward to sending the book to all interested parties as soon as possible. Viva la Vulva!
